Day 2

Well we have an early morning since we need to be back at Trinity College Dublin to see the book of Kells. This is a 3 star attraction since the manuscripts are so old.  Written in 799 AD. There were a lot of displays discussing how they were created, inks and color created and illustrations. Also a visit to the “long room library” with over 220,000 books.  There is a daily discussion of the long room and how books are preserved etc at 3 pm daily (unfortunately we will not make it, and since Tali was finished viewing the exhibit 20-30 minutes before Dan who wanted to read every display case.  Need I say more.)  It’s too bad we couldn’t donate Jim’s books here.  Many would fit right in.

Today I let Tali navigate back to Trinity College. The upside we made it. No wrong turns or detours. The down side is she walks like her Dad and Brian.  There is no such thing as a stroll. We did ask her to wait up for us every once in a while so we could catch up.  After the library neither she or Dan anted to do the college tour so we are off to the on and off bus.  After 10 minutes we are off. They say it will take about 1.5 hours to do the route and then 40 more minutes to redo the same route and get back to the gaol for our 12:45 tour.

Let’s just say traffic in Dublin doesn’t lend itself to timetables and appointments. Tali worries when we might miss appointments. We noticed it when making airport connections. So on the bus she is getting more nervous.  At this point Dan has fallen asleep so we get to the starting point and since there were taxis lined up it is time to transfer transportation modes.

We arrive for our tour only 3 minutes late. Yay!!    It is a great tour as we are able to learn about Irish history and the led into the break with Great Britain. The gaol was interesting and you could see a lot of the same architecture as in Australia

After the tour back on the bus and now on to Jameson for whiskey tasting after all we are in Ireland.  Of course we have a discussion of how to get there since we didn’t pay attention just knew it was down the road.  All is well we located the distillery and there is an attached cafe.   Good thing lunch before tasting.

For dinner we are off to the pub. In hopes of music tonight. We are off to the Brazen Head.  Oldest pub in Dublin.  Easy walk from the B and B.  Unfortunately the music didn’t start until after 9pm and we just finished dinner about then and we’re all tired so back home.  Total steps today. 12500.  Tomorrow will be busy although Talivwould love to sleep in.  We are on foot all day since no transportation planned.
