On the Road

Off to the airport today to pick up a rental car. This is were the fun will really begin. We do have an automatic transmission this time so we won’t have the additional challenge of Dan stalling the car every time he starts and stops. He opts to upgrade both the car and the insurance and off we go

First challenge Dan can’t seem to switch gears from park to drive, let alone reverse.  Today we are off to Powerscourt Garden, the Glendalough and then the B and B.  Think about how technology savvy we are.  If we can’t get the car in gear how good do you think we will do with the GPS. Right again.  It is really a pretty intuitive system it is just the people using it.

About half way through the day we have the car mastered and can use my phone as a backup. Powerscourt Garden is massive much like gardens in England   It has a Japanese garden, lots of grass and some fountains. We had 3 great days in Dublin for weather. Today it is kind of drizzly and gray. Looks like a heavy June gloom.

Glendalough is the first monastery built by St Kevin. We were in time for the last movie.  Checked out the museum and then out to the ruins.  I think the highlight was the deer that was foraging and not at all shy because of the tourists that were present.

Off to the B and B.  The phone as back up worked perfectly. Unfortunately I didn’t check my email and the owner of the home is gone and we had no idea on finding the key.  Her sister in law happened to come by and gave her a call.  Key found on the porch and we were in.  We got a recommendation for dinner and off we go. Success.

This was a self contained apartment on the second floor.  In the country dead quite. A view of the lake. Unfortunately very narrow steep steps so we ran down stairs to access our suit cases. Small problem. Tomorrow will be a full day of driving. Tali is thrilled. Extra sleep time in the car.
